SPEAKER_00

You're now listening to a Putin Dose of Three with your hosts Linda, Jasmine, and Kathy, and we're here to bring you your weekly dose. Hey guys, welcome back. This is a continuation of last week's episode.

SPEAKER_03

But you took it lightly when you took that test, and you know one test I'm talking about, and then you're like, but it's okay. It's like, you know what? I got another like you took it so lightly, and I was like, I want to be like her because I don't take it lightly. Like, because but that you know, like that's the mentality that we're in, you know, like oh my god, like and then you get all stressed out, you get like I get gastritis, I get I'm freaking migraine. I'm like, I get a pass, what am I gonna do? Because you think it's the end of the world when it's really nah, it's just intense, like you get another chance, and then I love that because you even said it, you're like, I have another chance, I'm chilling. The way that she said, I'm chilling. I was like, where's Jasmine? Like, what have you done with her? But then I, you know, like I feel like that attitude, and then right now, like what you say, like you go into a rave, and then I feel like you would have been like, Oh my god, it's not going how I plan, and like you would have been stretched out more, but you took it again lightly, like let's just see how it goes, let's see like where the night takes us, and you got to enjoy yourself, you got to get drinks to like really like leave. So I'm glad you're sharing all of that um with us.

SPEAKER_01

Me too, and and you're right, because uh the the I don't even want to say the old me, but the old me uh would have been like I just took a final, I'm just gonna rest today, I'm just gonna rest and watch documentaries, because that's what I would normally do. But I was like, no, like I'm gonna go hang out with people, I'm gonna go like socialize. Like, don't get me wrong, I was exhausted, but and I told myself I was gonna take a nap. I did not indeed take a nap. I did not take a nap. I just dug it out with Red Bull. Um, but but I had a lot of fun and it was an experience, and now I'm gonna be like, remember that time when we went to the wrong club, or um just so many other funny things that happened that night that I'm not gonna talk about, but yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Honestly, it's not it's good to have a balance because now that we are are in our 30s, our early you didn't have to say all that. No, as I was saying it, it was like registering in my head. I was like, damn, damn.

SPEAKER_01

Whoever's editing in this episode, you know what to do.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Like, literally, when I was saying it as registering, I was like, dang, we're in our 30s, we're not like in the mid-30s almost. But, anyways, my point is I remember when I was in my early 20s and I had a friend um that was about 10 years older than me. We used to live together when I lived in SoCal. And of course, I was like around like 25, and I wanted to, there were some nights I wanted to go out to the club. I was like, come out, come out with me, come out, like let's go to the club. She's like, No, I'm gonna stay home and watch TV. And like the nickname I gave her was grandma. I was like, You're such a grandma, you're such a grandma. Like, why? Why are you gonna stay in the house and you're only 30? I think she had to be around 35. I was like, You're only 35, like you're so old. Um, there's no reason why you should just be in the house on a Saturday night. Like, let's go out. Me as a 33-year-old, even I start feeling this as a 30-year-old. I don't like going to the club. Like, I do not like going to the club. It's too many people, it's hot, it takes a lot of energy to get dressed and then go to the club. Like, I enjoy couch rotting, I enjoy watching Netflix and just chilling. Like, I don't have to go to the club. Like, I don't look forward to going to the club. The more the 30-year-old, 30, because I'm not 30, 33-year-old me, I enjoy going to like spaws, going to Napa for like relaxing things. It's like, why? And so I'm like, dang, how same girl, same change.

SPEAKER_01

No, for real, same. Because when we went to the club, when we were in the club, tell me why, like, for my cousin to say this, okay. And my cousin's younger than me, like by a year or two, but she goes, Why was everyone so young? And I was like, because honest, I'm not I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie, yeah, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna lie, dude. I didn't, I did not I didn't even look because I was just like, I'm I'm just dancing, I'm having fun. Like I I was not paying attention because she goes, Everyone was so young. And then after I like thought about it, I'm like, oh my god, everyone was so young. And yeah, the reason why I like I thought about it even more is because there was like a a younger I want to say boy, honestly. He gave little boy energy, but he pushed my cousin. He pushed my cousin because she was in in his way, and I was like, What what is wrong with people? They're they're kids, they're young, they're really young. Um, and yeah, I they're the clubs are full of young people, and I I don't know what business I had being in a club.

SPEAKER_00

Being there, what did I live back today? See her saying no, so what I was saying is it's good to have a balance, it's good to leave your couch and go out and have fun, but then I also understand those who want to just stay and ho at home and relax. You don't gotta do that all 24-7 because then you're starting to lean more into depressant depression mode. I was like, Are you depressed? Are you just tired? It could be a little both, or you could be tired because I'd be tired after work.

SPEAKER_01

Um you said she was 35, right? And I what if she had already done so much of that? She did. She did. Yeah, because it has to be.

SPEAKER_00

That's what she told me. She's like, I've been there and done that. And the only time she went to the club with me is when I I think it was my 25th birthday party. Um, because in LA, you you could if you come with the about I think you need uh maybe eight girls, you can get a free table, free bottle service. So I did that. Um, so that's the only time she went to the club with me to celebrate my birthday. She was just there, just sitting, just rocking her head, looking at younger people. But now that I'm in my 30s, like I understand where she's coming from. I like I truly understand. And to emphasize on just everyone just being looking so young in a club. Um, when I went to Nashville a few months ago, I was the youngest out of my group. Out of the group I went with, they were like in their 40s. Um, I think she was like turning 42 or something like that. We went to Nashville and she wanted to go to the club. I was like, okay. So we got a section, bottle uh bottle service. When I tell you, we were leaving the club around midnight, like 11:30 midnight. And I would just remember being drunk, looking. I was like, I remember coming in at this time, and I'm looking at the young people. I remember, oh my goodness, I felt so old. Wait, that's so funny. I'm just looking like I was you.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, that is so funny. That is so funny. No, it is crazy how like how um how times changed because I remember I used to be out. I used to want to be out and about, and now I just don't care. And that's being like I did so much of that like when I was 18 because I would drive out to Entenada, 18 to 24.

SPEAKER_00

We were under, we were 16 going to the frat parties, sneaking in. Yeah, right. Yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_01

We got no business there. So I've done that for so long that now I'm just I'm ready to chill, you know.

SPEAKER_03

So, anyways, when we go to spa, that's the those are the plans that we really want to plan out right now.

SPEAKER_00

No, but and uh we need a uh plan a PD PD3 outing at the spa, like something, like something cute and relaxing. Go to Napa, do a little spa day, something very, very cute. That sounds so good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm totally down for that. I'm totally down for that. Um, but yeah, I've just been living um and that and now I'm in dedicated, and that's been interesting. Um, so for those of you who don't know, um so after didactic, which is like the learning the all the diseases, conditions, and all that, I'm moving on to taking um my step one board exam. And so before I go into rotations, I have to pass that test. And I have six weeks basically of studying to prepare for it, and not gonna lie, I went pretty hard the first four days. Like, I went pretty hard. I was so excited because I I love learning, like I love like sitting down, dude. I even started making my remember these sheets, remember these sheets? I started making these again. So when I was prepping for the MCAT, I would make like cheat sheets of things that I would keep forgetting and I would put them up like in places. So like if I was watching TV, I'd put it by the TV, so like on a commercial I could like look at the look at the cheat sheets.

SPEAKER_00

And listeners, she's not lying because I remember when she was studying for the MCAT, I went to her house. When I say she had posted or sticky notes everywhere, even in the bathroom, I sat on the toilet, I'm looking, looking straight ahead. How many chambers are in there? I'm just kidding. But no, she literally had sticky notes in her restroom. And I'm like, Jasmine, do you actually utilize this? Like, uh, are you in the bathroom looking at these soup uh sticky notes? And I guess, yes, when she's in there for a long time, instead of reading the magazine, she would read her sticky notes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, and then like I told my I was telling my classmate, I'm like, I'm gonna start doing them again. And I had told her, like, yeah, I even put them in the shower because I put them in a in a plastic slip so they won't get wet. So I'd put them in the shower, and as I'm like washing my hair, I'm like studying, and she's like, That's crazy to me. Crazy, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's crazy. That's very that's overboard. Like, that is crazy. She had them around her sink, like uh near the sink, literally everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when I'm cooking, yeah, because it's like sometimes it would I would do it for things that I would keep forgetting, things that like I like no matter how many times I would go over.

SPEAKER_00

People like Jasmine make me feel like I'm not doing enough. Because why do you have flashcards in your shower? Why do you have sticky notes near your sink? People like her is the ones you stay away from because then they make you re-reevaluate your whole life. Like, I thought I've been a hard worker all these years until I go to Jasmine's house and I sit on the toilet and there's a sticky note in front of me.

SPEAKER_01

You're like, you thought wrong. Look, no, it's not because I work hard, it's just I forget things, okay? Like I forget things and it's my way of remembering. Um, so yeah, I started making those again, and Jonathan was like, Oh, those are coming out again, huh? And I was like, Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Like damn these again.

SPEAKER_01

You know, yeah. So I'm doing those, and um I'm doing 80 practice questions every day, which is exhausting. Um, because you do them and then you review them. And then when you review them, like you're going pretty in depth. You're not just like skimming. You're like, why did I get this wrong? Uh, what did I what did I not know about this? Um, and then even like how, like, when you look at the question, like, how can you flip it so that could be right, or things like that, right? You're that's like active learning instead of doing like more passive studying. Um, and sometimes I'll like, if I still don't understand it, then I'll I'll go open like the first aid book, or I'll go open chat GBT and have them explain to me, or I'll go do Anki cards and I'll try to see if I can understand that.

SPEAKER_00

There's a few things that pop on my mind, two of them, one um involving Kathy. But before I get there, because you mentioned Chat GBT. I don't know if I should have mentioned this before, but if you're a provider work in healthcare, use something called open evidence. So it's similar to Chat GBT, but open evidence is actually um for healthcare providers, and so they use actually like up-to-date research and they use scholarly sources that's been proven. So I know Chat GBT, it's good, but sometimes I'm be questioning Chat GBT. I was like, Chat, you got this wrong. He's like, Oh, I'm sorry, you're right. It's this, this, and that. So use open evidence. If you're in healthcare, use open evidence because they'll like give you, put the link of where they got that resource from, and it's all like actually healthcare, like health-based knowledge, and it's accurate.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, use it the way it's amazing. The way that I have felt so smart having to correct chat GBT.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, oof, girl, yeah. I was like, chat, what's going on? I know I overworked you, but sir, this is wrong. This is not right. And chat literally be apologizing, like, oh, I'm sorry, you're right. I was like, Yeah, I'm gonna make you mess. Yeah, you should be. I have my faith in you. Like, what's going on? But open evidence is a very good, good site. Uh, it's literally like Chat GBT, it's an AI, but again, it's healthcare related. Um, I in order to sign up, I think. So when I signed up, I put in my license number, but I want to say there's an option where you don't have to put in your license number. Uh, but I if you're in healthcare, I suggest going there because you know your res the information is is right. Um Ann, have you guys used it before?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I have, and I really like it because of that, Linda, because it tells you like where they got the information from. And also don't feel, I feel like some people, because I've seen it at work where they use like chat or they use open evidence and then they try to hide their computer, but don't feel ashamed. Like those are we are not robots, like we uh we have so much in our brain, sometimes it's easy to forget. So don't feel ashamed. Those are resources that you need to use because that will remind you of like what you already know. It's just like a little reminder.

SPEAKER_00

So sometimes you need the the the information right away. Like I love um up to date, but up to date, they they give you so much information. And sometimes, like, I have the patient in the room, like I need something fast, and open evidence is right there, put it in, they it goes, it's simple, it's straightforward. Um, but sometimes it's it's more so like you just need it's convenience, you don't have that much time in the clinic, you need information right away.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I I myself have I use up to date, but I've heard of open evidence. I haven't signed up for it.

SPEAKER_00

I probably will, but and with open evidence. Let me try to sell up open evidence sponsored. Give me a little bit of your point. This is not an ad. This is not an ad, but in addition to them giving you, like, you know, actually information, you can use open evidence for doing calls. So say you are working from home and you, you know, you don't have your company's phone there, but you can put in your number, and when you call a patient, it'll say your clinic's name. So you can use open evidence to make phone calls. Um, they can also do like a scribing for you. So they do they do a lot. It's very, it's it's a great, a great uh resource. So, because there's a few times I was at home, I was like, oh shoot, let me call this patient, but you don't want to call private and you don't want to get have your number shown. So when you call, it'll literally say like the clinic or the hospital that you're calling from. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

See, Linda is always advanced. Like I she's always she damn. I didn't know that. That was good because I feel like Linda always like finds these things. And I was like, Yeah, I heard of that, but no, it should go deeper. She's like, No, you could do this, and I'm like, oh, you could do all that, man. I'm wasting my time. But yeah, that's that's that's a good resource.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I also hear that Jasmine, she's studying, like this, you know, this month, she's studying her butt off. And I know Kathy's supposed to be studying as well. And I feel that you two should get to not get together because Jasmine does live a little far, but to help you guys stay focused is get on like a school or something so you can hold each other accountable with studying. Because you, if you don't have like a buddy, it's you, it's it kind of it gets kind of hard to stay focused.

SPEAKER_01

No, so I'm accountable. Like I will sit Maba in this chair and I will do it. Like I will be here, I have been here. But but I literally that's funny that you say that, Lynette, because I literally texted my my friends yesterday and I was like, hey, like, are you studying at home? And I was like, the other one, hey, are you guys sitting at home? I'm like, I'm over this, and the other one's like, no, I haven't even started. Um, I'm gonna start Monday in my great. Um, let me know if you go to campus or if you go to a coffee shop, like I will meet you there. And normally I would like to study at home, but given that this is such a long uh study schedule, I'm gonna have to switch it up because I can feel the depression wanting to like vapen, and um and we're not gonna do that this time because that happened with the MCAT and we're not doing that, and that's when I that's one of the reasons why I like started going to the gym. Like, that's one of the first things I'll do is go to the gym because I come out and I'm like, all right, I'm ready to kick some butt today. So um, I'm just trying to do everything so that I don't get there because I I want to be successful and I want to use my time. Uh like I want to be efficient, and so yeah, I I'm hoping to meet up with um one of them in person on Monday. The other one I'm gonna be on Discord with, and Kathy, if you need accountability, let me know. I will be on Discord or Zoom, whatever you need, but I'll be there.

SPEAKER_00

I'll be here so Kathy, have you even started studying? How's that going? Give us give the listeners a little bit of update because I see of you over there closing your eyes, and I have not heard not one study question or anything from you. So, are you studying? Just Linda Faye, I'm studying. If you look at my Instagram stories, you wouldn't not your government name, not your government name. Seriously, let me comment on that too, after Kathy tells her her story.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, I've been studying, I life has been lifing, but I uh started, I made a I made it a point to start uh this week that just passed. And the like the reason why I was closing my eyes and I was like, Jasmine is literally saying what like I like what I've been doing because again, the same thing, like you either have to switch it up or you have to go like to another coffee shop or something because yeah, like you said, the pressure be trying to kick in, and then you're like, like you said, I don't want to be there, and I was like, I do not want to get you there again, and then that's why I was like, I'm you're literally doing what I'm doing. Like, I go a drop of Tiago, go to the gym, and I'm like, okay, let's go. I because I pack my Tapo Ware, um, and then I'm like, go to the coffee shop, eat lunch, and then that's it. Then I start studying until like the closed. Um, but yeah, I've been studying. It's been kind of a bit hard at night, especially after work, because sometimes that's I tried and then you just end up so drained, especially like because sometimes my job is like up and down, like it could be like either a really chill day, or it could be a really draining day when I'm like literally getting out of the clinic like around 7 p.m., 7 30 because the patient's still there. So um I've been trying to study when I work, but I also have dedicated like two days of the week and then weekends, like at least a Saturday or a Sunday afternoon to study. So I'll for sure hit you up when I come back from work. And if you because that's the thing, Jazz is like she goes to sleep like a grandma time.

SPEAKER_01

So you know what? Actually, you want to know something funny, Kathy? What? So the my my classmates stay up late, like they stay up really late, right? And they'll be texting me and they'll be like, she's sleeping already. And for some reason, this I don't know if it was this last block, but I started staying up till one, two in the morning studying. Yeah, I don't know what like I just and I stopped being like uh I started studying at night a lot, and then um recently, like a week or two ago, I was like, I need to stop doing that because because I stay up late, then I don't wake up early to go to the gym anymore. And so I'm trying to switch my schedule back, and on top of that, I'm going I'm gonna start rotations, and some of these rotations will be at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. Some like surgery. I don't know what time I'm gonna have to go in for surgery, so I need to like bet get back on a getting up early schedule. So I'm going back to grandma. I mean, the the the nightlife was really cool, I really liked it actually. Um, because I used to do that a lot in high school. I used to stay up really late till like three in the morning, four in the morning. I loved it because no one else is awake, you just have that time to yourself. But I'm noticing that if I do that, I am not going to the gym, so I need to go back to the other way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so yeah, I'll for sure hit you up all the way. I'll for sure hit you up for at least like because I try during um work days, I at least try to study at least an hour because let's be real, I cannot do like more than that because my brain is already like during because of the whole day, but the days that I don't work, I do study like the whole day, so that's been going. Um, it's cool that your classmates are willing to meet up, but um, yeah, my classmates like yours, they haven't even started and I get stressed, and I'm like, I'm not gonna stress out for them. They are doing on their own time, so I'm just doing me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when my classmates told me that I'm like, you know what? We're all so different. Yeah, um, we all have different things going on in our lives. I'm like, cool, let me know when Monday comes, and and if you want to meet up, let's meet up.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, yeah, yeah. Not not to put any pressure on you, Kathy, but have you ch picked a test date yet? No, no, no, nope, nope.

SPEAKER_01

I'm scared. I would advise you, Kathy, because um I haven't picked a test date, but I've looked at availabilities, so I have an idea of what my potential dates could be and that'll fire up. I at least have done that, and that's given me a little bit more like, oh, okay, like if I want to choose this day, I might need to pick it up a little bit. And that really has been cool. I'm gonna do that.

SPEAKER_00

Because if you don't, if you're studying without like a date or something in mind, you're just gonna continue like to just take your time, push it back. I'm not telling you to rush, but I'm telling you to have like a date in your mind so you can know, like stay focused and work, work your way up to that. Okay, because if not, I'm gonna be on cruise control.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, I think it just makes you more like proactive, like having that that date. I mean, it does give a little bit of anxiety, but I feel like if you it does just thinking about it.

SPEAKER_00

I love anxiety.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, my Kathy, because I remember um I was I don't know what I was doing, but I was talking to Jonathan. They were like, oh, what are you guys gonna do? And I was like, damn, I should probably figure out a test date. So I'm over here supposed to be relaxing, and I pull out my phone and I start looking at the dates, and I'm like, I'm like getting anxiety, and I'm like, okay, okay, like this is really close.

SPEAKER_03

It's happening, right?

SPEAKER_01

Because it's like it's happening, it's real, it's right. But then I then I told myself I'm like, okay, this this anxiety is a problem for tomorrow. Today we're gonna relax, and tomorrow we're going to get started on this.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, I think I am gonna look into like a day because I feel like I've done like okay, not past April, but I feel like I'm like, yeah, like I because I don't have like a said day, it's kind of like I could just push it, I could just push it. No, so yeah, I think I'm gonna start looking at dates um either tonight or Tuesday, and then try to like figure it out like what's what's going to to happen because yeah, when I started studying, I was so excited because I I even bought like a new notebook and everything, and I was like, oh, I'm excited. Like, I I'm such a nerd.

SPEAKER_01

That's so funny. I am too. I bought myself markers and I was like, ooh, different colors for different, like the the purple will be um, I was like, the purple will be diseases, the blue will be symptoms, the red will be do not forget.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it always starts not to be the Debbie Debbie Downer, but it always starts off that way, and then you keep studying, it's like, dang, I'm over studying. Hold that thought. Stay tuned for next week's episode.
